Prayer Recharge

Matthew 18:19 ESV

Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

I love pictures! I like to look at the pictures we take on vacation, at Christmastime, or just for fun.

I like to use my camera to take pictures of my friends, my family, and my dog. I even like to be in pictures.

At my house, we have pictures in frames sitting around on tables and shelves. We also have a lot of photo albums that I like to look through.

One of the albums is a special one. Every time my family gets a new picture of a missionary, we put it in this special album.

After dinner in the evening, we pray for the request from that day on our OMK Prayer Calendar, and we pray for one of the missionaries in our album.

Using pictures that you see every day around your house is a great way to remember to pray for friends, family, and even missionaries.

God Answers Paula

1 Peter 5:7 ESV

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Paula is a 14-year-old girl who lives in Madrid, Spain. Last summer, she traveled to the United States so she could study and learn English.

It was her first time to fly in an airplane and, being under the age of 16, the airline assigned a flight attendant to help her on the plane and translate for her when she arrived in Atlanta. The flight attendant took Paula's passport and took care of her while she was on the plane. But she forgot to return Paula's passport to her.

When they arrived in Atlanta, Paula was told to exit the plane and the attendant would be waiting for her. But no one was there with her passport, and no one spoke Spanish.

When they finally found Paula’s passport and she was ready to leave, no one was waiting to pick her up. Paula had to wait in a room with other children while the people in the airport tried to call her mother in Spain.

Paula read her Bible and prayed while she waited for her uncle to find her. She trusted God to take care of her in this new country.  Paula’s family in Spain prayed too.

After 30 minutes, Paula found her uncle. Paula was happy to be reminded that God always takes care of her no matter what happens.

God Answers Again

Psalm 42:11 ESV

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.

The children at the Chamartín church in Madrid, Spain, were in a crunch. They did not have enough space to meet and have Sunday school. All the children (ages 4 – 12 years old) met together in one room for class. The teachers found it very difficult to teach all the ages at one time in such a small space.

They couldn’t play games or do certain activities, because there was just no room. Many kids wanted to invite their friends to church, but when they did, they were even more crowded than ever. The nursery was not big enough for the babies either. It is wonderful that so many children are coming to church to worship God and learn more about him.

God answered the prayers of the church by providing an office building for them to meet in. They are so happy that the church is growing. Because of the larger space, the children are concentrating better as they learn about Jesus.

Please pray for the Sunday school teachers as they prepare and teach the children. Pray that the children will come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

Matthew 7:7 ESV

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Many years ago, the missionaries in Spain wanted to buy a camp to use for ministry. The missionaries had only been in Spain a short time and had to trust that God would provide the money to buy Rock of Horeb camp.

The camp had one building with a kitchen, dining room and two large rooms with bunk beds, but it was too small for some groups who wanted to use the camp. With the help of people from other countries, another building was built that could sleep 90 people in different rooms. Many people give their hearts to Jesus at this camp every year.

One day someone noticed that the old building had a crack in it, and an architect was called to inspect. The architect said that the building could be used for a few more years. Now the time has come to quit using the old building. But where will the campers sleep?

The new building does not have enough beds. The missionaries and the camp need God to provide so large groups can use the camp again. Pray that Rock of Horeb camp will be able to build new cabins.

Matthew 18:19 ESV

Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

A few days ago, I saw some pictures that made me think of how much God cares for us. The pictures show children and their parents in very deep floodwaters in the South Asia region.

One mother carried her two young children, because the water was over their heads. I also saw a girl walking through water above her knees. She carried her school bag on her head.

Missionaries experience all kinds of drastic weather conditions like typhoons, floods, severe heat, and drought. But God promises in Isaiah 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you...”

Pray for safety for our missionaries who share Jesus’ love in all types of weather.
